STAR TIGERS CHAPTER TWO: WITH FRIENDS LIKE THESE (AV22) NOW AVAILABLE!

Following the release of Star Tigers Chapter One at the beginning of the year, we are proud to announce the release of Chapter Two: With Friends Like These.

This second chapter of Star Tigers sees Abslom Daak and Prince Salander set off across the galaxy in search of a crew for the Killwagon. First is Harma the Ice Warrior, working on the seedy world of Paradise, then Vol Mercurius, owner of the planet Dispater... But Dispater is being invaded by the Daleks.

The production comes with the usual raft of bonus features:

Star Tigers Gallery: Dozens of images from the original unlettered strip, reprinted here with kind permission from David Lloyd.

The Making of Star Tigers: A comprehensive documentary illustrating the creative process and taking you through script, sound design, character and set design to animation and editing.

World of the War-King: From an original unpublished Star Tigers script written by Steve Moore, we our very proud to present an exclusive ‘living comic book’ version of this 1980 comic strip that contains one or two surprises. You can find out more about World of the War-King below.

We hope you enjoy this latest release, free across the world but for the price of a blank CD and return postage and packaging. To avoid delays, please ensure your usual dubsite is operational before emailing through our Getting Copies page.

 SITE UPDATE

War-King01

With the release of Star Tigers Chapter Two: With Friends Like These, we have another bumper update for you, including - as might be expected - the completion of the Star Tigers Chapter Two Gallery, the addition of DVD and CD-style covers, as well as a cover for a double disc case so you can keep both chapters of Star Tigers together in the same box, plus a disc label from our very own living legend Colin Gunn, a clip from the production on our Theatre page, and, with the very kind permission of Steve Moore, an online version and downloadable PDF version of our adaptation of his previously unpublished Star Tigers comic strip World of the War-King. This also appears on the disc of the new release as an animated comic strip.

However, that’s not all we have from the extraordinarily generous Steve Moore as he has also given kind permission to reprint one of his original Star Tigers’ scripts and has taken time to provide extensive notes on each and every panel. You can read them in the Steve Moore Section.

We also have new reviews for several of our productions, new wallpapers, and - as if that wasn’t enough - the first part of our comprehensive article dealing with the comic strip exploits of the Fourth Doctor concluding the Doctor’s run in TV Comic, and illustrated with well over two-hundred and seventy covers and panels from the strips, plus additions, cross-references and new images for several of the other articles in the series. You can find it all on our In the Comics pages.

Round this off with new entries on our Who’s Who page and Future Projects page and I hope you’ll agree that there is every reason to keep popping back to Altered Vistas even between releases.

And why not come and join our small, friendly and lively forum where we discuss the Altered Vistas releases and all things Doctor Who, including the comic strip and TV series?

 CASTING NEWS

With The Road to Conflict, the final Dalek Chronicle, soon to enter production, we are searching for someone to play young hero Tom.

Tom is English, well spoken, between twelve and fifteen years old, bright, brave, resourceful, and deeply protective of his sister Jennie. And he’s about to have a lot of fun fighting Daleks!

Ideally, I would like to cast someone who genuinely is between twelve and fifteen, someone with a real talent for acting who is keen to be a part of the final Dalek Chronicle, but I am also willing to hear auditions from anyone who can sound like they are the right age. This is voice work, after all.

If you think you have what it takes, then head over to the Available Parts page and try your luck. Please remember to read the Sound Advice page to ensure a good recording of the technical quality we require.

Good luck to all of you!

Tom

THE SPACE MUSEUM/THE CHASE BOXSET - WITH ADDED AV!

The Space Museum/The Chase Boxset

BBC/2|Entertain’s release of the Doctor Who classic series boxset containing The Space Museum/The Chase, featured a familiar AV name on the closing credits of one of its features. Yep, eagle-eyed viewers of The Chase’s bonus features may have noticed my name on the closing credits of the bonus feature entitled Daleks Beyond the Screen. Yes, that’s right - Altered Vistas has now appeared on an official BBC release!

Producer James Goss contacted me last year asking for a set of Altered Vistas’ Dalek Chronicles with a view to selecting some sequences to be re-rendered in my new animation software for inclusion in the documentary.

It was as a direct result of re-rendering these sequences that I decided to make a completely new version of Genesis of Evil. The bonus feature also includes a couple of shots from forthcoming Dalek Chronicle The Emissaries of Jevo which I sent as a gift and was surprised, but very happy, to see appear on the completed documentary.

 MINOR UPDATE

Just a minor update this time round with new reviews for some of our latest productions, Star Tigers Chapter One: The Emperor’s Ear (see below), and the all new version of The Dalek Chronicles: Genesis of Evil, an update for Bryan McCormack’s entry on the Who’s Who page, some additional information courtesy of John Freeman to augment Steve Moore’s informative Abslom Daak interview, and a few new additions to the In the Comics articles, not to mention a little plug below for a truly impressive fanzine (see below).

 VWORP VWORP!

Vworp Vworp!

Vworp Vworp! is the fanzine that celebrates Doctor Who in comic strip form and thirty years of Doctor Who Magazine.

Vworp Vworp! is essentially a loving, affectionate look at Marvel/Panini’s Doctor Who comic strips and the magazine that spawned them – Doctor Who Magazine. Co-edited by Gareth Kavanagh and Colin Brockhurst, and designed by the latter, Vworp Vworp! is a not-for-profit, full-colour glossy eighty-page perfect-bound fanzine that, in the words of Paul Scoones (author of the forthcoming Doctor Who Comics Companion), ’sets a high benchmark for fanzine production standards’.

Content includes interviews with Dez Skinn, creator of Doctor Who Weekly, Jeremy Bentham, original writer of the weekly, Dave Gibbons and Pat Mills, David Lloyd, Leon Howitt, Nicholas Pegg, Alan Barnes, Adrian Salmon, Gary Russell, Andrew Pixley, Scott Gray, Martin Geraghty, Clayton Hickman, Tim Quinn and Dicky Howett, Nick Miller, Ben Willsher, Roger Langridge, Kev F. Sutherland and Steve Noble, Leighton Noyes and Baxter Sullivan, and as if that wasn’t enough there are original comic strips, a letters page and more besides. Phew!

Find full details of Vworp Vworp’s launch issue at www.vworpvworp.co.uk.

THAT’S ALL, FOLKS!

We hope you enjoy this site and the steadily increasing number of productions that are available. Your comments, suggestions and reviews are, as always, extremely welcome (more than that, they're essential to our continued existence), and you can send them to: empire639@msn.com. We're always keen to offer the best that we possibly can.

Best Wishes,

Stuart
